On Tuesday - Thursday, 19-21 December 2006, the International Institute of Holocaust Research will hold an international conference marking 60 years since the Nuremberg Trials. The conference will explore the effect of postwar trials on Holocaust representation in various countries in Europe. Researchers, legal scholars, and historians from Europe, the United States and Israel will participate in the conference “Holocaust and Justice Post-War Trials and the Holocaust: Representation, Awareness and Historiography.” (program attached.)
Among the topics to be addressed during the conference are the effect of the Nuremberg Trials on current international law, the Eichmann trial, trials of Kapos, and the representation of the trials in film. Nazi hunter lawyer Serge Klarsefeld will discuss post-war trials in France. The closing session will be held in honor of Simon Wiesenthal.
The lectures will take place in English and Hebrew, with simultaneous translation, in the Yad Vashem Auditorium.
