Zvi Hirsch Szylis (1909-1987)
Born in Belchatow, Poland, Syzlis studied art in Lodz and Warsaw. His works were exhibited throughout Poland. In 1940, Syzlis was deported to the Lodz ghetto, and in 1944 to Auschwitz and later to Oranienburg, Flossenburg and Dachau. After the war, he studied and worked in Munich, and in 1950 moved to Paris. In 1957, he immigrated to Israel.
