On September 13 (in October, according to some testimonies), 1941 Jewish families whose members totaled about 1,000 were assembled under the pretext of being sent to work. The victims were driven southwest of the city and murdered in the area of the villages of Sheremetka and Medvezhye Ushko.

From the Statement of Psychiatrist Tatyana Fisher about German atrocities in Vinnitsa:
…In October 1941 a murder squad of the occupiers arrived in the city of Vinnitsa, carried out a roundup of the entire Jewish population, which was loaded onto trucks and driven outside the city, and then shot near by the village of Sheremetka.

…On September 13, 1941 about 1,000 people (including women) were assembled, supposedly to be sent to work, loaded onto trucks that were driven to the forest in the direction of Medvezhye Ushko, and shot. Among them were the Polishchuk, Gart, and Manzon families, and others…
