According to some testimonies, an unknown number of Jews from Kakhovka were murdered at a well in the area of the Rekord cooperative on the outskirts of town in September 1941.

Vladimir Pisarenko, who was born in 1882 and lived in Kakhovka during the war years, testified:
… In September 1941, as soon as the German conquerors occupied the town of Kakhovka, the most brutal massacre of Jews and Communists… started.
German murder squads went through the town, [entering] apartments, taking away entire Jewish families to the steppe to wells, where they shot them and threw them all in.
I saw Germans taking the Jews - children, old people, women, [and] girls - to a well located in the town of Kakhovka, near the area of the Rekord cooperative….
