Shmuel Kugel testified:
Three weeks passed (after the main mass murder). I returned from work together with four other Jews. Near the town they warned me, saying "Run to the forest. Gestapo men are here and are taking the Jews." I wanted to run home to save my wife or to be killed together with her, bout my companions did not let me go; they took me to the forest. The Germans fired at us but missed.
