On 25 February 2010, Irena Sendler’s daughter, Janina, visited Yad Vashem with her daughter. They visited the Museum for Holocaust History, and stopped at the tree that was planted in honor of Irena Sender, Righteous Among the Nations.
On this occasion, Janina talked about the challenge of having a mother who was known as “the mother of many Holocaust children”. Growing up, she said, it was not always easy to have to share her mother with others, but as an adult, she was able to appreciate the greatness of her mother and the importance of her legacy.
