Yad Vashem on the Donning of Yellow Star Badges at the United Nations

31 October 2023

We were sorry to see the members of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations donning Yellow Stars of David yesterday.

The Yellow Star badges signify a time of helplessness of the Jewish people and being at the mercy of others.

Today, we have an independent state and a strong army.  We are masters of our destiny, which is not determined by others.

There are many who understandably associate the atrocities of the October 7th massacre with those perpetrated during the Holocaust.

Yet, for the past seventy-five years we have a blue-white flag as our badge of honor and not a yellow star.
