Jordi Cruyff Delivers Family's Pages of Testimony on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

27 January 2014

Today, Monday, January 27, 2014 former Dutch international football player and current Maccabi Tel Aviv manager Jordi Cruyff visited Yad Vashem to personally deliver Pages of Testimony filled out by his father, football legend Johan Cruyff, detailing members of the family who were murdered during the Holocaust.

Johan Cruyff’s uncle who was Jewish, managed to escape the Netherlands but had sisters that remained behind and unfortunately shared the same tragic fate of the vast majority of Dutch Jewry.

Following the presentation of the Pages of Testimony to Yad Vashem on behalf of his family by Jordi Cruyff on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Dr. Alexander Avram, Director of the Hall of Names said, “Recording the names and identities of Holocaust victims by the Cruyff family today at Yad Vashem, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, is a fitting example and gesture to the importance of this enormous task. I encourage anyone who has not yet submitted the names of family members and friends who were murdered during the Shoah to do so.”

The previous day, Sunday January 26, Yad Vashem was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by UNESCO marking the inclusion of the Pages of Testimony Memorial Collection in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.
