The Litvaks – Yad Vashem Publication Wins Prestigious Award

25 November 2002

Yad Vashem’s The Litvaks: A Short History of the Jews in Lithuania by Professor Dov Levin was awarded the “Most Aesthetic Book of the Year Award” for 2002 by the Israeli Institute for Packaging, Design and Product Logistics. The award will be presented at a ceremony at Ganei HaTa’arucha in Tel Aviv on November 27.

The book is an updated English version of the Encyclopedia of the Lithuanian Jewish Community (Yad Vashem, 1996/7), which describes Lithuanian Jewry from medieval times to the post WWII period, when approximately 95 percent of the community was destroyed.
