24 May 2010

More than 200 editors, journalists and publishers of Russian media around the world, as well as Russian government officials, will visit Yad Vashem tomorrow as part of the 12th Annual World Conference of the Russian Language Press.

Participants from 49 countries, including Russia, Italy, Canada, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, France, Australia, Azerbaijan, Germany, the UAE, Portugal and the United States will tour the Holocaust History Museum, participate in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, and visit the Children’s Memorial.

Minister for Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein will participate in the Memorial Ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance.

While at Yad Vashem, participants will also hear about Yad Vashem’s initiatives in reaching out to Russian–speaking audiences, including via a new website in Russian, and current research regarding the Holocaust in the areas of the Former Soviet Union, in particular the Names Recovery Project in Russian speaking areas.

Media interested in covering this visit must coordinate with the Media Relations Department at Yad Vashem: 02 644 3410, and arrive at the Hall of Remembrance by 11:30.
