Chancellor of Austria to Visit Yad Vashem on Monday

21 April 2017

The Federal Chancellor of Austria, H.E. Mr. Christian Kern, will visit Yad Vashem on Monday, 24 April 2017. The Chancellor will tour the Holocaust History Museum and sign the Yad Vashem Guest Book. Following this, the Chancellor will participate and lay a wreath at the Wreath-laying ceremony attended by Israel's President and Prime Minister, Israeli politicians, community leaders and Holocaust survivors and their family members.

As part of his visit to Israel, the Chancellor will attend the Official Opening Ceremony of Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day at Yad Vashem on Sunday, 23 April 2017.

There will be only one photo-op in the Hall of Names during this visit. Media interested in covering the visit must send a separate photography crew and arrive no later than 08:30. Due to security constraints at Yad Vashem at this time, it cannot guarantee that photographers covering the Chancellor's tour will be able to be present at the Wreath-laying ceremony. Please RSVP to simmy.allen@yadvashem.org.il, and arrive at the Hall of Names with a valid GPO card.
