Yad Vashem Mourns Passing of Prof. Wistrich

20 May 2015

Yad Vashem mourns the unexpected passing of Prof. Robert Wistrich, a foremost expert on antisemitism. Prof. Wistrich was head of The Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Hebrew University and his research included important studies on contemporary antisemitism, as well as studies about the nature of Nazism. "His discussions with educators at the International School for Holocaust Studies of Yad Vashem, in explaining the phenomenon of modern antisemitism to teachers from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, China and other countries around the world added an important dimension to their studies. He was able to simplify a complex and centuries-long phenomenon in a way that could be understood and tackled," said Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev.
