Yad Vashem Statement Regarding the Exoneration of Professors Engelking and Grabowski

17 August 2021

In reaction to the appellate court in Poland, Prof. Dan Michman, Head of the International Institute for Holocaust Research and Incumbent of the John Najmann Chair for Holocaust Studies, stated:  

"We welcome the appellate court's decision to reverse the previous libel verdict in the case against Professors Engelking and Grabowski. This decision sends an important message in support of unbiased freedom of research of the Holocaust period. Furthermore, we congratulate Professors Engelking and Grabowski, whose contributions to the study of the Holocaust in Poland is respected and appreciated throughout the academic world."

On 11 February 2021 Yad Vashem issued this statement following the original verdict.
