New at www.yadvashem.org, Online exhibits, testimonies and educational material for Holocaust Remembrance Day

10 April 2006

In advance of Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 25, 2006) Yad Vashem has launched a special mini-site at www.yadvashem.org . The mini-site includes links to video testimonies of Holocaust survivors from Yad Vashem’s Visual Center, photos, artifacts, on-line exhibitions and more.

The site also features a Special Exhibition: “To Live with Honor and To Die With Honor” (from the writings of Emanuel Ringelblum). This exhibition focuses on four aspects of the human spirit during the Shoah: religious observance, culture, mutual aid, and Jews who saved Jews. Alongside the exhibit one can access related exhibitions, encyclopedia entries, testimonies, stories and information on related topics.

The mini-site contains extensive educational material, prepared by the International School for Holocaust Studies, focusing on two aspects of the Shoah: the story of Jewish families during the Holocaust, and the activity of counselors and young leaders to provide children with alternate frameworks in the ghettos. The site also contains useful resources for formal and informal educators, including lesson plans, ceremonies, testimonies and more.
