Dani Dayan travels to the Netherlands for the First Time as Chairman of Yad Vashem in order to Participate in the Inauguration of the New Dutch National Holocaust Museum

Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan is set to embark on a significant journey to the Netherlands, where he will participate in the opening ceremonies of the Dutch National Holocaust Museum in Amsterdam. The inauguration, scheduled for Sunday, 10 March 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the Netherlands' commitment to Holocaust remembrance and education. Dayan's visit to Amsterdam comes at the invitation of the museum's directors and will be joined by distinguished figures including the King of the Netherlands, the Dutch Prime Minister, the President Austria, President of German Bundesrat and the President of Israel.

In addition to the museum's opening ceremonies, Dayan will pay his respects and visit the Dutch Holocaust Memorial of Names, dedicated to the memory of the close to 75% of Dutch Jewish community that were murdered during the Holocaust. During his stay, he will meet with Jewish students in Amsterdam, engage with leaders of the Jewish community, and have a dialogue with representatives of institutions dedicated to Holocaust remembrance and combating antisemitism.

Following the events in Amsterdam, Dayan will travel to The Hague where he will preside over a special ceremony recognizing three new inductees as Righteous Among the Nations. These individuals were recognized by Yad Vashem for their bravery and compassion in their efforts to save Jewish lives during the Holocaust.
