Events for 64 Years Since Kristallnacht at Yad Vashem: Seminar, performance and memorial ceremony with the participation of hundreds of students and survivors

07 November 2000

Thursday, November 7, 2000, events marking 64 years since Kristallnacht (Night of the Broken Glass) will take place at Yad Vashem. Approximately 250 students will participate in a seminar at Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies, which will include lectures, a movie on the burning of the Buehl synagogue, a survivor’s testimony and a performance of “Destination Unknown”.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the students will take part in a memorial ceremony at 12:00 in the Hall of Remembrance. Survivors, former residents of Germany and members of the Organization for Central European Olim will join them following a tour of Yad Vashem.

The events will be held in cooperation with the Information Center – Jerusalem District, the Education Director of Jerusalem Municipality and the Organization for Central European Olim.

To mark Kristallnacht, Yad Vashem has placed a special section on its website, featuring Pages of Testimony, photos, essays and a teaching unit.
