Yad Vashem is closed on Saturdays and all Jewish Holidays.

Entrance to the Holocaust History Museum is not permitted for children under the age of 10. Babies in strollers or carriers will not be permitted to enter.

Karel Fleischmann

Born in Klatovy, Austro-Hungarian Empire, in 1897. Murdered in Auschwitz in 1944.

"[…] I tried to occasionally pick up a pencil and a pad. I would pause for a moment, in the middle of the chaos all around me, either in a corner of the yard, or in the sick room, to quickly sketch something, in order to remember."

Born 1904 in Ungarisch Hradisch, Austro-Hungarian Empire. Deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto in December 1941. In October 1944, transported to Auschwitz, where he was murdered.

Rabbi of the Frankfurt am Main community. Member of the Ältestenrat and Rabbi of the Magdeburg Barracks in Theresienstadt.
Born 1879 in Rothenburg, Germany. Deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto with his wife in August 1942. In 1946, emigrated to Detroit, where he served as congregational rabbi. Died in 1954.

Lawyer  and functionary in the Prague Jewish Community. Member of the Ältestenrat and of the Bank Directorate in Theresienstadt.
Born 1910 in Prague, Austro-Hungarian Empire. In September 1939, he was appointed as the Head of the community. Deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto in January 1943. In October 1944, transported to Auschwitz, where he was murdered.

Born 1864 in Bonn, Germany. Deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto in June 1942. After the war, lived in Bonn, where he died in 1953.

Born 1892 in Prague, Austro-Hungarian Empire. Married the famous singer Fritzi. Both were deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto in December 1941. In September 1944, transported to Auschwitz, where he was murdered.

Lecturer and Rabbi of the Vienna Jewish community. Deputy Chair and from September 1944, Chair of the Ältestenrat in Theresienstadt.
Born 1905  in Lvov, Austro-Hungarian Empire. In January 1943, deported from Vienna to the Theresienstadt Ghetto. After the war, he moved with his wife and son to Rome, where he died in 1989.
