Käthe Loewenthal studied art in Bern, Berlin and Stuttgart. In 1895, she converted to Christianity. When the Nazis came to power, she was forbidden from continuing her artwork, her studio was closed, and she was evicted from the professional societies to which she belonged. In 1941, she was sent to a “Jewish home” that served as a waystation prior to deportation. In 1942, she was deported to the Izbica ghetto, where she was murdered.
