Esther Lurie studied stage design in Brussels and painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1934, she immigrated to the Land of Israel with her parents, where she became a painter. After a visit to Kovno in 1939, she was unable to return to the Land of Israel due to the outbreak of the war. In June 1941, she was incarcerated in the ghetto in Kovno, and in July 1944 Lurie was deported from Kovno to the Stutthof and Leibitsch concentration camps. After liberation, she returned to the Land of Israel, where she continued to work as an artist.
