Bertha Schreiber was born in 1926 in Oradea Mare, Transylvania. Bertha is the only survivor from her family of parents and five children. She survived Auschwitz and was liberated at Bergen Belsen. After the war, Bertha was sent to a convalescent home in Karlstad in Sweden, where she met and made friends with girls her own age, survivors of the camps. In 1948 Bertha moved to Argentina, to live with her grandfather who had moved to Argentina in the 1930s.
In honor of her twentieth birthday, in February 1946, her friends from the hospital in Karlstad sent her a birthday card that one of them had illustrated. The friends signed the card, listing their names according to their countries of origin.
Bertha immigrated to Israel in 1961 and saved the birthday card together with a book of messages from her friends and an album with photos from the hospital in Sweden. Bertha's daughter, Suzi Reinmann, submitted the birthday card together with other items at a collection day held in Kiryat Ono.
