"Shoah Related Lists" is a database of various lists of names from the Shoah period. The database contains information about each list, such as the place, date and circumstances in which it was prepared. The database includes lists of names of many different groups of people, including victims and perpetrators. The database includes lists held by Yad Vashem and those held by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. In many cases the database includes a digital copy of the original list.
In the "Shoah Related Lists" database it is possible to locate lists by their type (i.e. List of Deportees, List of Prisoners) or by locations mentioned in their descriptions. However it is not possible to search them by the names in the lists.
When searching for an individual Shoah victim, we suggest you start with the "Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names". This database contains the names and details of those murdered as Jews in the Shoah and is constantly expanding and updating. The sources of the "Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names" are myriad, including Pages of Testimony, archival sources and post war memorial projects. In the Central Database of Shoah Victims' names the search is by the victim's names or details.
Many of the names in the "Shoah Related Lists" database have already been transcribed into the "Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names", where you are more likely to easily find information about an individual.
We encourage all interested, to peruse the scanned images of the lists appearing in the "Shoah Related Lists" database. When requesting copies or information about lists, please note whether the list is from Yad Vashem or USHMM holding, and query the appropriate institution.
Explanations for basic search
Global search: free text, such as subjects (i.e. children, hospital), places, dates of the preparation of the list or the event itself.
Place: Locations mentioned in the description of the list, such as the destination of a deportation, or a camp in which the prisoners are listed. Locations in the list itself, such as the places of birth of the deportees or prisoners, cannot be searched.
Dates: Dates mentioned in the description of the list, such as the date of a deportation. Dates in the list itself, such as the birth dates of the deportees or prisoners, cannot be searched.
