Leon Rosen's Mandolin Yad Vashem Artifacts Collection Donated by Rivka Biton, Gan Yavne, Israel
Leon Rosen from Siedlice, Poland, received the mandolin as a child. During the war, Leon escaped to the forests in the Bialystok region, taking his mandolin with him. It served him well in the forests and later on in the labor camps in Soviet territory.
In 1949, Leon immigrated to Israel with his wife, Rachel and his son Moshe. He played the mandolin throughout his life.
