Wooden pencil box containing pencils and other writing utensils used by young Mira Kristianpolerow from Probuzna, Poland.
In 1939 when Mira was a fourth-grade pupil, she wrote her name on the box. When the war broke out, Mira and her mother were deported to Siberia. A short time later, Mira contracted diphtheria and died due to lack of medication. Her sister Feige was murdered by the Nazis in Lvov.
