Rabbi Dr. Isaac B. Rose served as a Jewish chaplain Allied forces, Canadian army. After the liberation of Holland, Captain Rose was active in setting up a Jewish chaplain's center in Amsterdam that served Jewish survivors returning from the camps or from their hiding places during the war, as well as Allied soldiers. As a tribute to his services, a Dutch Jewish survivor presented Captain Rose with this characteristic Dutch Hanukkah menorah that survived the war. Back in Canada in 1947, Rabbi Rose married Leisje (Leesha) Bornstijn, a Jewish member of the Dutch underground whom he had met in Holland at the end of the war. In 1973 they immigrated to Israel.
