Deportation of Jews from Ghetto I in Grodno, January 1943

The Germans occupied Grodno, Belarus in June 1941. Some five months later, two ghettos were established there, confining approximately 25,000 Jews.  The liquidation of the second ghetto began in November 1942, and in January and February 1943, the Jews in the first ghetto were deported to Auschwitz and Treblinka.  In March 1943, the few Jews remaining in Grodno were sent to the Bialystok ghetto.
