Meaningful visits at Yad Vashem

September is a very popular month for visiting Israel. Not only is the weather pleasantly warm yet cool in the evenings, but often it is the month that coincides with the Biblical feasts.  As Christians are increasingly tuned into Judaism and our Biblical traditions, many find it very special to spend their time during these holidays in the land of Israel. It is therefore no surprise that we hosted many denominational and national groups at the Yad Vashem campus during September.

Some of our visitors elected to have a guided tour by one of Yad Vashem’s trained guides. Tours are tailor-made so specific events in history or national figures of significance can be studied in depth. Some of our visitors walked around the campus to see different monuments and sculptures – each one telling a unique story. In the Holocaust Art Museum visitors are exposed to art whose artists who often perished whilst their art survived. The highlight of many tours is a meeting with a Holocaust survivor. This is a unique opportunity to meet with a living witness and should be done whilst it is possible.

One of our recent groups was the Watchmen on the Wall – this is part of the program of the Eagles’ Wings ministry combined with an educational tour to Israel. Here the group and its leader Rev. Robert Stearns (front-row left) is pictured with survivor Rena Quint (center) and Dr. Susanna Kokkonen, Director, Christian Friends of Yad Vashem (right of Rena).

Let us know if you are coming to Israel and would like us to help in organizing your special tour.
