Remembering the Holocaust in Italy and Switzerland

Seventy years after the Liberation of Auschwitz, January 27 (1945) is the date when people across the world remember the Holocaust. Around that date, it is customary to hold events of commemoration at churches and communities. This year two branches of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem -ICEJ Italy and ICEJ Switzerland- hosted such events.

Yad Vashem has a whole Travelling Exhibitions' Department. Pictures are chosen carefully; texts are edited many times. Yad Vashem's travelling exhibition "How Was It Humanly Possible" was translated into Italian and now for the first time exhibited in Italy, in the town of Bergamo. A beautiful and dignified event with choirs and violins and the exhibition took place on January 27, 2017. It was an honor to be there and represent the Christian Friends of Yad Vashem.

In Switzerland a Christian Friends of Yad Vashem speaking tour around the country was organized to coincide with the date. German and French speaking Christians gathered together to learn and commemorate. A huge effort was invested in organizing such a tour. Many difficult questions were asked; only some could be answered.

We would like to invite you to become part of our efforts. Please, join us in remembering and learning and educating. We depend on you to be able to continue our mission.

Help us to speak up today.
