According to a local inhabitant, Shaumyan's Jews were murdered at a mound just outside the village in early March 1942.

- You’ll see it on the left side of the road. Drive slowly, you’ll see a hill. You’ll see ruins, and you’ll see it behind the ruins. She said that there were fires, and one could hear children’s screams from there. They were bringing them from all over the place. I don’t know where they were shooting them…right here or there. Probably there.
