The Jewish community in Logoysk dates back to the eighteenth century. During the Soviet period, a Yiddish school operated in the town. In January 1939, 864 Jews lived in Logoysk, accounting for 25 percent of the total population. The Germans occupied Logoysk on July 2, 1941. Only a small number of the town’s Jews managed to evacuate. The rest were shot in two murder operations at the end of August and beginning of September 1941. The Red Army liberated Logoysk on July 2, 1944.
