




Yad Vashem Builder Sigmund A. Rolat was honored with the Yad Vashem Remembrance Award for his commitment to Holocaust remembrance and education. Also recognized was the late Righteous Among the Nations, Varian Fry, represented by his son James Fry. Marc Chagall, z"l, who was rescued by Varian Fry, was represented by his granddaughter Bella Meyer.

Chairman of the Board, Leonard Wilf (left), opened the program and Israeli super model and actress Bar Refaeli (center) participated as Master of Ceremonies. Leonard was accompanied by his son Harrison Wilf (right).
The award was given in recognition of their unwavering and enthusiastic support for Yad Vashem. Consul General of Israel in Los Angeles David Siegel (left) congratulated them.
Aron Bell (left), the last surviving brother of the heroic Bielski family and recipient at the event of a Courage Award, attended with his wife Henryka Bell (right).
The participants included Mira Becker (left), Maria Herskovic (second from left), David (third from right) and Fela Shapell (third from left), Ben Lesser (second from right) and Aron Bell (left). Each survivor lit a candle to symbolize the six million Jewish souls that were taken from the world too soon.
The Society’s new Executive Director, Ron Meier (left), spoke about his namesake, family members that were murdered in the Shoah. Rosemary Schindler (right), relative of Righteous Among the Nations Oskar Schindler, ended the program by stating her love for Israel and the Jewish people.
Pat Boone expressed his admiration for Israel and spoke about his recent visit to Yad Vashem where he donated the original card on which he drafted the lyrics of his hit song “Exodus”.

In this way, he demonstrated the eternity of the Jewish spirit. His wife Cecile, a Holocaust survivor, was also present at the ceremony.

The donation was granted for the acquisition and digitization of archival materials from Warsaw. The families of Chaim and Malcha were murdered in Warsaw during the Holocaust.

The meeting took place in the International School for Holocaust Studies (pictured). They later toured the Holocaust History Museum and Children’s Memorial. Foundation President and CEO Rachel Garbow Monroe and Trustee and CFO Barry I. Schloss and the entire group viewed The Jerusalem Hills Panorama generously donated by the Foundation.


They visited the International School for Holocaust Studies, where their support of Holocaust education is gratefully recognized.


They are being preserved in the Yad Vashem collections.


Drs. Frank and Andrew Holecek (right), the sons of Maria Holecek, received the certificate and medal from Israel's Consul General to the Midwest Roey Gilad and his wife Nitza Gilad (left). Also present was S. Isaac Mekel, Director of Development of the American Society for Yad Vashem.


The Breslauers generously supported the mapping of the names of the Righteous Among the Nations on the Mount of Remembrance.




The Honoree and speaker at the event was Dr. Deborah E. Lipstadt (center), renowned expert on Holocaust history and worldwide defender and chronicler of the truth about the atrocities of WWII. Marilyn Rubenstein (left) was the Honorary Spring Luncheon Chair and Chairman of the American Society Leonard A. Wilf (right) also participated in the event.

He met IDF soldiers who were on the Yad Vashem campus for a special seminar on leadership during the Holocaust.
