Dear Friend,
"God did not create Auschwitz neither did the Satan; we created Auschwitz, human beings."
Yehiel De-Nur, a Jewish writer andHolocaust survivor
The Holocaust – the murder of six million Jews in Europe during World War II – was not a force majeure; it happened in a modern, civilized society, where people actively decided to commit such atrocities.
"...Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your ancestors? Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation."
Joel 1: 2-3
It is our obligation as religious believers to learn from the past and educate future generations to know the facts, remember the past and educate for a better future. We must empower the younger Christian generations with accurate, reliable historical information, and teach them to follow the example of the Righteous Among the Nations who took it upon themselves not to be bystanders, but to actively choose good rather than evil.
As the generation of Holocaust survivors is dwindling, it is now the time for people of all faiths to join forces to carry on the torch of remembrance, and to build bridges of understanding, cooperation and friendship between the Christian world and the Jewish world.
I call on you to join the Christian Friends of Yad Vashem (CFYV) and support our various projects to ensure a better future.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
With blessings from Jerusalem,
Ms. Sari Granitza,
Director, Christian Friends of Yad Vashem
