
They met with Senior Historian at the International Institute for Holocaust Research Dr. David Silberklang, and received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Archives from Archives Division Director Dr. Haim Gertner, Fred Hillman Chair for Holocaust Documentation (left).


As well as touring the Holocaust History Museum and Children's Memorial, they attended an unveiling ceremony in their honour.

In attendance were (from left to right): Abe Goldberg, Warren Fineberg, Johnny Baker, President of the Australian Friends of Yad Vashem Joey Borensztajn and his wife Julie.
"As Yad Vashem educates so many Australians," Andrew commented, "this is the one place where I do not see any dichotomy between supporting both local and overseas needs."
They also visited their plaque on the donor wall of the new extension to the Memorial Cave as well as the exhibition marking 50 years of Honouring the Righteous Among the Nations.

Joseph left his native Cracow 2 days before the war broke out and arrived in Switzerland on the day hostilities commenced; Gerda and her family left their native Vienna prior to the war and spent 10 years in Shanghai.


In addition to meeting with Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate Avner Shalev (left) and Managing Director of the International Relations Division Shaya Ben Yehuda (right), they were shown the Artifacts Collection by Curator Michael Tal.
