The International Conference on The Legacy of Holocaust Survivors recently took place at Yad Vashem. Leading Holocaust educators and survivors gathered at Yad Vashem during the week of April 8-11, 2002. The conference included official Yom Hashoah ceremonies, a full program of group lectures, and scholarly presentations in smaller workshop forums. Some of the speakers included Mr. Moshe Sanbar, Simone Veil, Prof. Aharon Barak, Dr. Samuel Pisar, Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Rabbi Michael Melchior, Chaim Chesler, Imre Kertesz, Per Ahlmark and Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. The closing ceremony for the conference took place in the Valley of the Communities at Yad Vashem on Thursday April 11th. The speakers included Avner Shalev, Chairman of the Directorate of Yad Vashem, Limor Livnat, Minister of Education, Dr. Israel Singer, President of the Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, Zvi Gill, Centre of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors in Israel, and Nobel Prize Laureate, Prof. Elie Wiesel.
The International Conference was organized and conducted by Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies, in association with the Centre of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors in Israel and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
