About the Holocaust (Shoah) Deportation Database

Since 2007, the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem has been studying the transports as an extensive phenomenon that transcended individual states, not in the context of the Holocaust within a specific country or a single community. As such, this project examines the transports as an historic event that is significant in its own right, not just as a technical stage during which Jews were transported from one place to another. Indeed, the transports played an important role in translating the grim theory of the “Final Solution of the Jewish Problem” into reality and enabling it to spread its tentacles to the very edges of the territories controlled by the Third Reich.
