“Shlishi BeShleikes”

Yad Vashem suggests a variety of activity options for senior citizen groups participating in the “Shlishi BeShleikes” project.
(The activities are designed for groups of 25 and up)

1. Guided tour of the Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem, and complementary tour of the exhibitions and campus (approx.3 hours)
Guided tour of the Holocaust History Museum:  the history of the Holocaust from the perspective of the victims, telling their personal stories through video testimonies, original artifacts , documents and artwork collected by Yad Vashem over the last 60 years.

Complementary tour options: following the museum tour and after a short break, the group will go on a complementary tour of one of the exhibitions or the outdoor monuments.

Each group may choose one of the following complementary tours:

  • Tour of the Yad Vashem Art Museum and the Synagogue
  • Eichmann Trial exhibition:  “With Me Here Are Six Million Accusers – 50 Years Since the Eichmann Trial”
  • Righteous Among the Nations exhibition:  “I Am My Brother’s Keeper – 50 Years of Honoring Righteous Among the Nations”
  • Exhibition about children during the Holocaust:  “No Child’s Play”
  • Tour of the outdoor monuments and sculpture garden:  “Yad Vashem as a Landscape of Memory”

2.  Guided tour of the Holocaust History Museum and Lecture (approx. 3 hours)

Following  the guided tour, each group may choose one of the following lectures:

  • “Pinpricks of Light” – the Righteous Among the Nations
  • Heroism and Resistance in the Holocaust
  • Artists and Art in the Holocaust Period
  • Israeli Society and the Holocaust
  • “The Holocaust in the First Person” – Personal Diaries from the Holocaust Period
  • “Return to Life” – Liberation and Aftermath
  • “I See Them Before My Eyes” – The Jewish World Between the Two World Wars
  • “I Wanted to Fly Like a Butterfly” – Children in the Holocaust
  • The Shaping of Memory amongst the Third Generation

3.  Lecture Outside Yad Vashem (approx. 1.5 hours)
Yad Vashem will hold lectures around the country for senior citizens.  The lectures will present different aspects of Jewish life in the Holocaust, integrating plays, film excerpts and video testimonies. 

Each group may choose one of the following lectures:

  • “Pinpricks of Light” – the Righteous Among the Nations
  • Heroism and Resistance During the Holocaust
  • Artists and Art in the Holocaust Period
  • Israeli Society and the Holocaust
  • “The Holocaust in the First Person” – Personal Diaries from the Holocaust Period
  • “Return to Life” – Liberation and Aftermath
  • “I See Them Before My Eyes” – The Jewish World Between the Two World Wars
  • “I wanted to Fly Like a Butterfly” – Children During the Holocaust
  • The Shaping of Memory amongst the Third Generation
