Canadian Prime Minister at Yad Vashem Tomorrow

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mrs. Laureen Harper, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mrs. Sara Netanyahu will visit Yad Vashem tomorrow, January 21, 2014. They will visit the Holocaust History Museum, participate in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, visit the Children’s Memorial and sign the Yad Vashem Guest Book.

They will be guided by Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate Avner Shalev, and accompanied by Chairman of the Yad Vashem Council Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, and Canadian Holocaust survivor Joe Gottdenker. Mr. Gottdenker was born in Poland during the Holocaust, and survived thanks to Righteous Among the Nations Petrnolo and Wladyslaw Ziolo who sheltered him until he was able to be reunited with his parents after the end of the war. The family immigrated to the United States and then Toronto, Canada where Mr. Gottdenker has lived ever since.

Accredited media who would like to attend the memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, must register with the media relations department: estee.yaari@yadvashem.org.il, and arrive with a valid GPO card at Yad Vashem by 13:00 for security checks.
