Yad Vashem condemns in the strongest terms the Holocaust denial symposium being hosted in Abu Dhabi by the Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-up and expresses deep concern and regret that the subject of the Holocaust is being used as a platform for racist objectives.
Although the Holocaust generally serves as a cultural code of education, democracy, protection of human rights, and an ultimate symbol of suffering, recently it has been manipulated to act as a tool furthering political aims that condemn the Jewish people.
Chairman of the Directorate of Yad Vashem, Avner Shalev reacts: “Yad Vashem continues to strengthen bodies fighting antisemitism by providing accurate Holocaust materials and promoting current research. In addition, we provide educational tools and explanatory activities aimed at better educating the public and combating such obvious fabrications.”
Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes Remembrance Authority was created by the Israeli parliament in 1953. Yad Vashem contains the world’s largest repository of information on the Holocaust and the most extensive collection of documents on this subject in existence.
