A mother and her children before their execution in Lubny, Ukraine
In 1939, the Jewish population in Lubny was 2,833. The Germans captured Lubny on September 13, 1941. On October 16, at a site outside the city, they murdered 4,500 Jews from the area. Featured here is an additional picture of Jews gathered together prior to their execution on that day.
