Children and teachers in the Jaeger Kaserne Displaced Persons' Camp, Germany

The photograph shows children and teachers in the Jaeger Kaserne (German for Riflemen’s Camp) DP Camp, which was situated in the American-occupied zone of Germany near Frankfurt am Main.  In December 1947, there were 2,409 people living in the camp.  The Jaeger Kaserne DP camp was closed on 30 June 1949.  It was later used to house US army units stationed in Germany.
