Czechoslovakian Jews leaving for illegal immigration to Palestine – Prague, Czechoslovakia
Approximately 255,000 Jews lived in Czechoslovakia before the war; about 146,000 perished in the Holocaust. Like most Holocaust survivors, Czechoslovakian Jews also sought to immigrate to Eretz Israel, but were denied entry due to the British Mandate, and underwent many hardships before reaching their destination. The immigrants from Czechoslovakia included many babies born after the war.
