On July 12, 1941 500 (max. 600) Jewish men were shot to death by Germans at an anti-tank trench in a field near Virbalis. Some sources report the murder of 100 Jewish men around July 29, 1941 at the same murder site.


On September 15, 1941 1,000 (max. 2,000; according to some sources 250) Jewish women and children from Virbalis were shot to death by Germans at an anti-tank trench in the city.
