SZCZUCZYN, field On May 10, 1942, with the assistance of local police, Germans surrounded the ghetto of Svoboda, collected all the Jews in the town square, androbbed them of their valuables. The Jews were then taken to the nearby Szczuczyn forest, where a pit had been dug by local residents in a field that had belonged to Prince Drutsko-Luberetski. There the 2.180 Jews were forced to undress and shot to death. Their bodies were buried in the pit.
