Yad Vashem’s MA & PhD Scholarships

Each year, the International Institute for Holocaust Research – Yad Vashem offers small financial scholarships to MA and PhD students.  The student must be writing a thesis and registered in an Israeli academic institution. 

These scholarships are supported from funds that were established by organizations, institutions and individuals who wanted to commemorate the Holocaust victims and promote Holocaust studies in Israel.  The Institute warmly invites those applicable to an application. All application materials must be submitted and received by the International Institute for Holocaust Research by 31 December of the preceding academic year.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Results will be announced by the following March.  Each recipient is required to acknowledge the scholarship in appropriate way within the thesis and to present a copy of the thesis to the Yad Vashem Library.

    Maximum 5 printed pages, double spaced that includes the following information:
  • The Research Topic/Title
  • The Aims of the Research
  • Research Methodology
  • Short Bibliography
  • Estimated Time Required for Completion

Step 4 - Additional Information

Each recipient is required to present a copy of the thesis to the Yad Vashem Library. In addition, the name of the fund, from which the scholarship came, must be acknowledged in the thesis and in any publication of the thesis.

Only those who are in the process of writing the thesis may apply.

The International Institute for Holocaust Research must receive all required materials including your two letters of recommendations by 31 December of the preceeding year for which the candidate is applying. Incomplete applications will not be considered after this date. Late applications will not be accepted.
