At Yad Vashem, a very unique ceremony was recently held in which a huppa was presented by the Joint Distribution Director-General Arnon Mantver to Yad Vashem Chairman of the Directorate - Avner Shalev. The embroidered azure huppa, originally made in Israel, was sent at the request of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to Germany, along with other similar canopies, to displaced persons camps after the Holocaust. Thousands of Jewish couples were married under these canopies.

Also in attendance at this special ceremony, were Shoshana and Avraham Roshkovsky who were married in the Bergen-Belsen DP camp under one of these huppas.
