Help for Basic Search Page

This search function will automatically cast a wide net. It will search for the requested information on several relevant fields: “last name” will search also for maiden name, and “location” will search on birthplace, residence, places during the war, and place of death.

In addition, it will use Yad Vashem’s “synonym’s search” module, which means that it will search not only for the name or place as you spelled it, but also use other variant spellings and related names. The search is multi-lingual.

The advantage of thus widening the search is that we can offer more possible results. The disadvantage may be that the number of results will be too large. Should this be the case, please turn to the Advanced Search option.
