Memorial to the Jews of Pukhovichi and Maryina Gorka Memorial to the Jews of Pukhovichi and Maryina Gorka YVA, Photo Collection 5003/13

A monument at the Popova Gorka murder site perpetuates the memory of the Jews of Pukhovichi and Maryina Gorka murdered during World War II. It bears inscriptions in Yiddish and in Russian.
The Yiddish inscription reads: “Eternal memorial to the 1,260 Jews of Pukhovichi murdered at the hands of the bloody enemies of mankind, the German-Fascist killers and hangmen, on the second day of Rosh Hashanah 5702.”
The Russian inscription reads: “Blessed eternal memory to the 1,260 Pukhovichi Jewish martyrs who perished at the hands of the cruel enemies of mankind, the Fascist-German villains, on September 22, 1941.”
